Mini Sad Iron Go With Ironing Board Cord Holder Minder Keeper Portable Lamp Base
I purchased this little clamp–on sad iron many years ago at a local Raleigh, NC Estate Tag Sale.
I’ve kept it because I used to work on a lot of antique lamps and
lighting fixtures and thought I might use it as a base for a portable lamp at some point but now it’s time to offer it up for sale.
It is a very unusual item that I’m guessing may have started its life as one of those cord minder things to help keep the electrical cord out of the way while ironing.
The clamp would have been used to attach it to the ironing board and it would have had a stiff wire of some kind, extended from the threaded base, to hang the cord on.
I believe this would have been manufactured around the time that sad irons were being replaced with early electrical irons.
The iron shaped base measures about 3” long. The overall height not including the screw is also about 3” and the opening can be adjusted to a little over 1 ½”.
I consider it to be in very good original vintage condition showing age appropriate wear.
